Do you support or oppose the Bush Doctrine of pre-emptive attacks against potential threats to our country which have not yet materialized?

___Support _x__Oppose

Explanation for positions:

The best way to defend our nation is to maintain a strong and well-trained military, to be what Reagan described as a “shining city on a hill” and not the police of the world. The United States must stop taking an interventionist stance. The Founders believed it was best to be friendly to all but to avoid foreign entanglements. The United States is spread too thin. If the United States has solid intelligence that it is about to be attacked, then it would be appropriate to take action to protect civilians and our military alike.

Do you believe that President Bush made the right decision to invade Iraq, overthrow Saddam Hussein and facilitate the election of an Islamist Shiite-led coalition government consisting of the Supreme Council for the Islamic Revolution in Iraq, Al Dawa (Islamic Call), Sadr Bloc and Hezbollah in Iraq closely aligned with the Islamic Republic of Iran at significant cost in American blood and treasure?

___Yes _x__No

Fiscal Issues – URA – Political Courage Test

Do you support or oppose efforts to balance our federal budget by limiting federal government spending to the revenues that it takes in?

_x__Support ___Oppose

Explanation for position:

The idea of a balanced budget amendment is a good sound bite, but the options of such an amendment are a Catch 22. Whenever the United States request tax limits on a budget amendment, the amendment goes nowhere. If the amendment limits taxation, then it would cripple the country in a time of crisis. If a crisis exception is allowed, it would be a license for government to create a crisis to increase taxes. This issue has come and gone several times in my lifetime. That said, I support other measures that would more effectively and constitutionally balance the budget. Read More→

Constitutional Issues – URA – Political Courage Test

Do you support or oppose efforts by the Patrick Henry Caucus and states’ rights advocates throughout the country to exempt the citizens of their respective states from unconstitutional federal mandates and legislation relating to abortion, socialized health care and gun control passed by Congress?

_x__Support ___Oppose

Explanation for position:

I researched and secured the Patrick Henry Caucus’s (PHC) domain names when it first organized. I wrote its first news release and sent it out to my national media list. A year prior, I also worked with PHC’s founder, Carl Wimmer, on the Utah Coalition for Traditional Families in 2009 to successfully defeat the Common Ground initiative. I discussed with him before PHC was organized the possibility of the states simply refusing to accept any more unfunded mandates. “The Principles of 98,” also called “nullification” is a strategy I recommended.

Sovereignty Issues – URA – Political Courage Test

Wednesday, February 24th, 2010

Do you support or oppose globalist ‘free trade’ pacts such as NAFTA, GATT/WTO, CAFTA and FTAA which surrender our economic sovereignty to un-elected foreign bureaucrats?

___Support _x__Oppose

Explanation for position:

I agree with Patrick Buchanan that the $1.9 trillion dollar deficit has contributed to our nation serious economic crisis, destroying our economy and sending business overseas to our demise on the world stage. No nation has ever remained sovereign and self-reliant with this strategy.

Senator Bob Bennett is in a position of leadership on the Transnational Policy Network which has a goal of establishing a common market with Europe by the year 2012. Common markets require governance. The U.S. Constitution is the Supreme Law of our land and our nation should not relinquish its sovereignty to the World Trade Organization, the one vote/one nation body of unelected bureaucrats that hate the U.S. and have voted against us 40 out of 44 times. I will fight to preserve our national sovereignty from being further eroded and to restore the rule of law found in the U.S. Constitution.

Family Values – URA – Political Courage Test

Do you support or oppose the Sanctity of Life Act which would declare each and every unborn baby in this country a person with the same rights to life as all of our other citizens?

_x__Support ___Oppose

Explanation for position:

The Declaration of Independence identifies “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness” as unalienable rights. The First Amendment provides Constitutional protections for religion. I agree with the majority of Americans who believe both as a matter of faith and as a moral standard that abortion is a form of murder, based on Natural Law and the laws of Nature’s God. This is the original intent of the Founders and Framers of the U.S. Constitution.

I have not just talked the talk on this issue. I have walked the walk. For over thirty years I have actively advocated for pro-life bills. I have stood in conventions to speak in favor of resolutions and platform positions. I have helped craft those platform positions, and I have submitted resolutions to protect life in those conventions. This is one of many reasons why the United States needs a conservative woman in the Senate. Feminists typically challenge men who try to advocate for pro-life measures and all too often successfully silence them. My presence as a conservative woman will neutralize their stance and provide an opportunity for me to champion the overturn of Roe v. Wade. Not only is it time to do it, the majority of Americans now say they are pro-life. Read More→
